cobra in the maze

 okay....so i've been putting the video together of the student painting the maze. NOW, he made a king cobra out of modeling clay and we have filmed him going through the maze!!! it is a little choppy, but the look on my student's face when he saw it on the camera was priceless!! the disappearing snake, snake going through the portals and the movement were all his idea. i basically just held the camera and clicked!

the a-maze-ing maze this is a maze that one of my students is working on. i am blown away by his abilities. he has included keys that let you in to color-coded gates. he has also put transporters in!!! i love watching his brain think through these things. while he is painting, i take photographs. i am putting them together in a stop-action movie.

jackson pollack these past two weeks, my student teacher taught all of the classes while i observed, helped, and organized. he took on an ambitious jackson pollack/abstract expressionist lesson. the first week, he showed abstract expressionist's work, played the token response game, and showed first grade a short pollack film. the kindergarteners also used rubber cement to add lines to paper. the second week, the kindergarteners used primary watercolor paints to splatter and drop paint over the rubber cemented paper. they could also pick up their paper and move it to create more lines and mix their primary colors. the first graders...
